World set to celebrate 11.11.11

What's in a number? Well, tomorrow's unique confluence of dates - 11.11.11 - has thousands around the world planning something special.
11.11.11 is special because there is no other date that consists of all the same number. The day comes around once every 100 years, meaning tomorrow is the only time many people will be alive to experience the unique date.
111111 x 111111 = 12345654321
Appearing once in 100 years, the date of 11.11.11 on today's calendar has been creating quite a frenzy in the state, especially among expectant parents.
The rare palindrome of single digits appeared 100 years ago on 11.11.1911 and will surface again on 11.11.2111 only.
Gynecologists said there has been such an unprecedented craze among expecting mothers to deliver their babies on this special date that they have been clamouring for a Caesarian section instead of going for a normal delivery.

Scientists, however, dismissed associating adjectives of good or evil with the date, describing the rarity as a mere classroom curiosity. "Definitely, it will be of classroom interest for students to know more about such palindromes in calendar. There is no other scientific importance of the date," said Dr Swadhin Patnaik, director of Institute of Mathematics and Applications. "No celestial event of consequence is expected to happen on 11.11.11. It is a nice date in the sense it looks good with digit 1 occupying all places," said Subhendu Patnaik, deputy director of Pathani Samanta Planetarium, adding market forces may be trying to exploit the date by attaching special importance to influence people to invest or spend.
Astrologers too were not willing to attach any significance to the date. "The date is not 1 all, the year actually being 2011 and not mere 11. So, it's not the same digit occupying all places. But even if digit 1 comes at all places as in 11.11.1111, it would not mean anything noteworthy astrologically," said Dola Gobinda Panda, an astrologer.
