New Delhi: As the livestock market in Old Delhi's Jama Masjid area witnessed high footfall and did brisk business ahead of Eid Al Adha celebrations today, animals considered auspicious, healthy and ideal for the sacrificial ritual sold at astronomical prices.
A goat with distinctive marks on its body fetched Rs150,000 (Dh11,246).
"The natural marks on one side of this goat reads ‘Allah' while on the other side it has patterns forming the name "Mohammad'," said seller Mohammad Sabir standing next to Chanda the goat, which was adorned with a garland and coloured frills.
